Event: Microsoft Azure Hands on Lab for GICA

Date: 10/20/2016
ScholarBuys Attendees: Darren and Bob

Bob and Darren took another trip to Georgia to meet with members of the Georgia Independent College Association (GICA) to discuss Microsoft Azure. Attendees included System Administrators, technical staff, and members of IT leadership.
The focus of the event was to bring GICA members together to learn more about the benefits of moving workloads to the cloud, and to gain some real hands-on experience working in Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform. An open forum allowed members to discuss their current and prospective technology initiatives and collaborate. Speakers from Barracuda and Veeam presented on topics related to Azure including how to back up and secure workloads.

Microsoft has a professional services partner, known as AirNet Group, that specializes in assisting entities with their Azure initiatives. AirNet led the lab portion of this meeting with ScholarBuys and GICA. ScholarBuys provided this lab to show schools how Azure helps to achieve much greater agility in their datacenter and save them money in the long run. As more workloads are moved to the cloud over time, less money will be needed for hardware and physical infrastructure costs. Our Academic Technology Experts have spent time researching Azure’s capabilities and have been sharing this information with the institutions to ensure everyone is up to date on the best technology solutions.
